“Will and Jada: A High-Profile Marriage of Convenience or Love?”

Latest

Jada Pinkett Smith has officially confirmed that she has no intentions of divorcing as reported in the Daily Mail her estranged husband, Will Smith, despite the recent revelation that they’ve been discreetly separated since 2016.

In a recent interview on The Drew Barrymore show, the 52-year-old actress shared that, one month after disclosing the surprising details of their separation in her memoir, “Worthy,” both she and the 55-year-old Oscar winner are committed to upholding their lifelong bond. When the host, Drew Barrymore, suggested that it seemed like they were planning on ‘staying together forever,’ Jada responded affirmatively, stating, ‘We’re staying together forever. I tried. We tried,’ alluding to their years-long separation that had been kept private.

At a publicity event for her tell-all, Jada emphasized that she was ‘not leaving Will’s side,’ and, reciprocally, he is ‘not going to leave’ hers. Will acknowledged the challenges of their ‘brutiful’ relationship, describing it as both brutal and beautiful during an event at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore.

In a surprising turn of events, Jada revealed that her decision to stand by Will’s side came after the 94th Academy Awards in 2022 when he slapped Chris Rock. She acknowledged the intensity of the situation and how such moments can amplify love, bringing them closer despite the difficulties. Speaking on The One Show in October, she explained that she and Will have chosen to redefine their relationship, embracing a non-traditional path that aligns with their desires.

She concluded, ‘Will and I have decided to be in a relationship that fits what we desire. We had our separation, and then the Oscars came, and we are definitely on a different trajectory. But I will not say that it’s in a traditional way, for sure. We decided to be together in a way that works for us.’

If you look closely at Will and Jada, it’s more of a marriage of convenience. It’s about security and protection, which is understandable, and it’s easy to stay together. When you’re a high-profile celebrity, it’s very difficult to start dating, and one of the biggest issues will be trust. Like Will and Jada, who have many secrets, they trust each other completely, so I totally understand the logic.

We come to this planet to learn and to love, and surely, this is not a marriage of love. Wouldn’t you want more in life? Love is one of the most beautiful things we can have as a couple. Personally, I feel it’s sad to stay together more for convenience than for love. In my opinion, that’s so sad.
