09.00am: AWAKE. For a brief second, bliss, then dread for the day ahead.
10.00am: I’m on my way to the hospital for my latest cycle of chemotherapy and that sense of unease and racing heart isn’t making me feel too good.
10.30am: Cold cap on and I wonder when I will feel like performing my classical set in front of a huge audience again. Feel tense.
11.15am: Canula inserted, saline flushed and now the steady drip, drip of my chemo drug makes its way inside me for the next few hours.
Drip, drip, drip… At times like this it is essential that I do something, anything to elevate how I’m feeling. Drip, drop… I reach for my phone, accessing my music and turn my attention to the drip, drop sound of Chopin’s “Raindrop” Prelude. It couldn’t be more perfect and I rest my head, smiling once more at the beautiful, persistent and repeated notes which sound like a dreamy, hypnotic and relaxing rainfall. I am calm, I will get through this day, I will be happy today.
It’s an extreme measure I need to take, but whoever we are, whatever we face, good times and the bad, we all deserve the luxury of peace and enrichment and, as I have discovered, classical music holds a secret power. Being a chart topping soprano I know that I am biased but, trust me, it has the ability to transform your day. So, follow my lead, drop whatever you are doing, take a deep breath and let’s explore how a symphony of strings and sonnets can elevate your daily experience.

As the sun peeks through the curtains, this is the perfect time for classical music’s magic. A gentle Bach prelude can wash away the lingering sleep fog, replacing it with a sense of calm focus. As you sip your coffee, let the rhythmic strum of a Vivaldi concerto energise your spirit and prepare you to tackle the day.
Studies suggest that classical music can enhance concentration and memory, making it the ideal soundtrack for smashing that morning to-do list.

A Lullaby for the Soul Classcial Music Songs:
As the day draws to a close, and sleep beckons, classical music can once again become your companion. The soothing melody of Debussy’s Clair de Lune (also found on my 2nd album!) or the ethereal beauty of Schubert’s “Ave Maria” can lull you into a state of deep relaxation. Research suggests that listening to classical music before bed can improve sleep quality, reducing stress and promoting restful slumber. So, let the music be your final act of self-care, a gentle whisper ushering you into a night of peaceful dreams.
Remember, classical music is not a genre, it’s an experience. Explore different composers, periods, and styles. There’s a piece out there waiting to resonate with your soul, to elevate your mood, and to transform your day. So, open your ears, open your mind, and let the music work its magic. You might just be surprised at the positive impact it has on your life.
As for my day? Well, Chopin has served me well; Drip, drop….done.
