Latest

Thomas Power is the godfather of community building and paved the way for the likes of LinkedIn, Facebook, and all of the online based communities we have today.

Thomas is also one of the most adept networkers I know. If I am ever in need to find someone with the right skills or knowledge, Thomas is my go-to guy. Thomas has built a vast network over the years and has well over 30,000 connections on LinkedIn and I bet you he has touched base with all of them and knows the skills and qualities they possess.

However, with the rise of technologies and the constant changes it brings, networking isn’t as simple as it used to be. So, we called on Thomas to give us his 10 steps to successfully get you ready for networking in 2024.

Over to you, TP.

Ok, so here are my top 10 tips for getting ahead in 2024.

Firstly you need to be Authentic: Genuine connections are built on trust and mutual respect, so always be true to yourself and your business.

2.Utilize LinkedIn: Despite the emergence of new platforms, LinkedIn remains a gold standard for professional networking. Engage in discussions, share valuable content, and reach out to potential connections.

  1. Leverage AI: Use AI tools for smarter networking. AI can provide insights about the best times to post content, which topics are trending in your industry, and who you should connect with.
  2. Participate in Online Communities: Join groups and communities that align with your business interests. Participate actively in discussions.
  3. Attend Virtual Events: Webinars, conferences, and other online events are great places to meet people in your industry.
  4. Create Value: When reaching out to new connections or contributing to discussions, ensure you’re offering something of value. This could be unique insights, helpful resources, or even a kind word.
  5. Follow Up: If you’ve had a great conversation or connection, make sure to follow up and keep the relationship going.
  6. Stay Current: Keep up with the latest trends and news in your industry. This will give you relevant talking points and make you a valuable connection for others
  7. Practice Good Online Etiquette: Be respectful and considerate in all your online interactions.
  8. Remember, Networking is a Two-Way Street: Networking isn’t just about what you can get from others, but also what you can offer. Cultivating a give-and-take dynamic will lead to stronger, more fruitful connections.
