Embrace Electric Mobility: Thrilling Without Compromise

The excitement of electric mobility with the Abarth 500e, promising an exhilarating drive without sacrificing performance or style.

Electric cars are known for some key characteristics: being quiet, relaxing, and grown up. But the Abarth 500e is far from that, making it the most controversial EV currently on the market. Abarth is already known for doing things differently in the combustion world, so would we expect anything less in the electric world?

Beyond performance, the Abarth 500e's allure lies in its vibrant aesthetics and captivating performance. Available in striking hues like Acid Green and Venom Black, it commands attention effortlessly. Even with the exhaust speaker deactivated, the 500e stands out boldly, evoking joy and overshadowing any perceived shortcomings whether experienced visually, aurally, or through driving.

Firstly, the noise. There is a speaker fitted to the underside of the car, producing ‘fake’ exhaust sounds, both outside and inside. But this isn’t a random exhaust noise. Abarth spent 2 years and over 6,000 hours recording and developing the sound from their petrol fleet. When you first start the 500e, the sound instantly puts a smile on your face because it really does sound exactly like the 595 Turismo. You have to hear it, to believe it. However, when you’re driving along the motorway, it can begin to drone. Thankfully, there is an off switch.

Next question, is it relaxing? I wouldn’t say any more than the petrol equivalent, but the interior does feel like the quality has improved, as well as a comfier seating position (thanks to the lack of a clutch pedal). Yet, we have to remember the Abarth is designed for performance rather than comfort. The 500e has a lower centre of gravity and a wider track meaning it handles like it is on rails. Paired with the thrilling instant electric torque and a faster 0-60 time than its petrol brother, it is a car that is designed to be driven for fun.

From bright colours and funky bodywork to thrilling performance, this car will bring out your inner child. It certainly is an eye-catcher, with colours such as Acid Green and Venom Black, even with the exhaust speaker turned off, you won’t be hiding in the shadows. This car has a magic ability of making you smile and forgetting all its flaws, whether you are simply looking, listening, or driving it.

The electric car market has been missing something designed purely to be funky and fun. Abarth has filled that gap perfectly. While there will be a selection of people who aren’t a fan of the 500e, it offers petrolheads a glimmer of hope that hot hatches will not be lost in the transition to electric.
