What led you to pursue a career in photography? I found joy and inspiration in capturing images of my model girlfriend when I was in my early 20s.
When you’re behind the lens, what do you observe, and how does it affect you emotionally? My first priority is always the lighting, followed by the contrast or its opposite, and then considering the weather if shooting outdoors, and finally, the background. The other priority is, of course, the subject.
You’ve captured iconic images of Stephanie Seymour, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, and Cindy Crawford. Can you share a moment that particularly stood out to you?
One memorable moment was the intimate reportage I did on the top models in 1989, featuring interviews published in French Elle, French Photo Magazine, and International Editions. Some notable milestones include my first cover of French Elle with Stephanie Seymour, the first cover of French Photo Magazine Special Top Model with Claudia Schiffer, my first Vogue cover with Claudia Schiffer, the first cover of Sports Illustrated with Rebecca Romijn Stamos, the first cover of Playboy with Carré Otis, and the first campaign with VS Angels.
